BoilerIQ ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at boileriq.ca. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information collected through this website. We are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who contact us or use our website.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide to us voluntarily, including:
- Name and contact information (email address, phone number) submitted through our contact form
- Facility type and details you choose to include in your inquiry
- The content of messages you send to us
We do not collect payment information through this website. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.
For exam purchases, we keep internal records of exam visits, visible locked paywalls, Unlock clicks, checkout creation or errors, and verified payment. For signed-in students, these records are associated with the authenticated account name and email and are visible only to the authorized, password-unlocked administrator. Anonymous records use a random, non-identifying tab identifier that expires after 24 hours; they do not contain guest names, emails, IP addresses, or device fingerprints.
Optional follow-up emails have separate account settings for free-preview tips and offers and for study reminders. If you opt in, we record your verified account email, your choices, the consent wording and time, and your timezone. We use recorded exam visits, access and study activity to choose relevant reminders and stop messages that no longer apply. We keep consent, delivery and suppression records to document your choices and honour opt-outs.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use information you provide to:
- Respond to your inquiries about our services
- Schedule and coordinate boiler inspections and compliance assessments
- Communicate with you about your facility's compliance situation
- Send the exam follow-up emails you explicitly choose, with at most two follow-up emails per rolling week across both choices
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Data Retention
We retain contact information and inquiry details for the period reasonably necessary to provide services and respond to any follow-up questions. We do not retain data longer than necessary for these purposes.
Internal exam-purchase journey records and their account contact snapshots are retained for up to 180 days, then deleted. They are used to understand purchase completion and technical checkout problems, not to infer why someone left or automatically send marketing reminders. These monitoring records are not sent to Google Analytics or other external analytics services.
5. Third-Party Services
Our contact form directs inquiries to our email provider. Your information is transmitted to our email inbox using standard email protocols. We do not use third-party analytics services that collect personal information.
Resend processes recipient email addresses and message content to deliver opted-in follow-up emails. Verified delivery, bounce and complaint events help us stop sending to blocked addresses. You can turn off these follow-ups in Account settings or use the unsubscribe link in an email without signing in. This does not cancel receipts, push preferences or paid PowerPrep deliveries.
6. Your Rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, or request deletion of your information by contacting us at contact@boileriq.ca. We will respond to such requests within a reasonable time.
7. Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect information you submit through this website. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to us electronically.
8. Applicable Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the applicable federal privacy legislation of Canada, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where applicable.
