BoilerIQ exists to help Manitoba facility managers, property owners, and operators understand and meet the boiler supervision requirements set out under provincial regulations — particularly the requirements for Guarded Status classification under the Technical Safety Act.

Why Guarded Status Matters in Manitoba
The Regulatory Context
Manitoba's Technical Safety Act establishes requirements for the supervision of pressure equipment, including boiler plants. For most facilities, this means having a licensed operator attend to the boiler plant during operation — a significant operational cost and logistical challenge.
Guarded Status provides a pathway for facilities to meet their supervisory obligations through approved safety systems and monitoring arrangements rather than continuous human attendance. But Guarded Status is not automatic — it requires meeting specific criteria and demonstrating compliance.
